Steve Glickman is at the helm of a rising star in regulatory intelligence

Steve Glickman’s journey from the West Wing to the startup trenches might not be typical, but it’s proving to be transformational.

As co-founder and CEO of Austin- and D.C.-based Statt, Glickman is reinventing how public policy professionals digest complex legislative data. His leadership has positioned the AI-powered SaaS platform as a rising star in the emerging space of regulatory intelligence. His recent successes include the rollouts of new products, high-profile customer growth and a marquee fundraising round.

Founded in 2020 by Glickman and a team of former senior public sector officials, Statt reflects deep fluency with the challenges of modern governance. Glickman’s 20-year career in Washington included legal and economic leadership roles across the Obama administration, the U.S. House Oversight Committee and the Department of Commerce. He also co-founded and led the Economic Innovation Group, the bipartisan think tank that architected the federal Opportunity Zones program.

Since moving to Austin in 2022, Glickman has overseen rapid growth at Statt. In late 2024, the company raised $2.8 million from Moneta Ventures, Clutch VC, and Next Coast Ventures. That funding fueled a generative AI-enabled redesign of Statt’s platform, a state and federal policy tracker with built-in analytics, and a forthcoming expansion of real-time transcription and EU legislative coverage. The company’s customer base has doubled, now including U.S. government agencies, major consulting firms, law offices, and universities.

What distinguishes Glickman’s leadership isn’t just technical vision, but an unapologetically mission-driven ethos. Statt’s tools are designed for speed, clarity, and substance—avoiding the clutter that plagues competitors. “Product-first, customer-obsessed” is the internal mantra, and Glickman backs that up by hiring top machine learning and data science talent who want to make a public-sector impact.

Beyond scaling Statt, Glickman remains deeply rooted in community and education. He mentors students through Georgetown University’s McCourt School and is now building relationships with the University of Texas at Austin. At home in West Lake Hills, he’s a hands-on father of two and active in Austin’s Jewish community.

Statt was recently named one of Austin Inno’s 25 Startups to Watch and won the NextEra Energy Investments national AI competition. As Glickman puts it, “If you put your head down, work hard, and over-deliver for customers, good things happen.” For Statt, and for Austin’s policy-tech scene, he’s proving that belief right.
